West Vigo students compete in Super Bowl

West Vigo High School participated in the annual Academic Super Bowl in Greencastle High School. Schools compete against other schools in their class and there are four classes in the state based on the size of the school. Eighteen schools representing all classes competed at Greencastle.
West Vigo teams captured either first or second place in their class in the six areas of competition. The areas of competition include: Science, Fine Arts, Math, Social Studies, English and Interdisciplinary.
The Social Studies and Interdisciplinary teams placed first and the Science, Fine Arts, Math and English teams captured second.
Members of the academic team include: Amanda Allen, Chelsy Brown, Dre’ Brousseau, Peyton Farmer, Jenny Fifer, Caleb Fleschner, Thia Flinn, Carey Ford, Josey Holscher, Megan Jackson, Danyel Millar, Pete Rosene, Emily Ross, Sarah Tennis, Justin VanGilder, Nick Voll and Anna Wilson.
The team coaches are Mrs. Penny Redlin, English; Mr. Bob Jackson, science; Ms. Alusta Tapy, math, and Mrs. Cheryl Dean, fine arts, social studies and interdisciplinary. Mrs. Dean serves as the academic coordinator.
“I am certainly proud of the young men and women on their outstanding performance during the competition, and on the amount of time they devoted to preparing for the competition” said Cheryl Dean.
