METRO/PREP ROUNDUP: Rose’s Dickerson wins Heartland honor

Rose-Hulman’s Alisa Dickerson has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in last week’s sweep of Anderson and Mount St. Joseph.

Dickerson averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game and buried 22 of 24 free throw attempts in the two victories.

She recorded a pair of double-doubles to help the Engineers improve to 4-4 in conference play.

Dickerson scored 25 points with 11 rebounds and four assists, including a perfect 13 for 13 from the free throw line, to help Rose-Hulman defeat Anderson 61-43 on Wednesday.

The mechanical engineering major contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds in Rose-Hulman’s 66-52 win at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. 

Rose-Hulman improved to 6-9 overall with the two conference wins.

The Engineers travel to HCAC leader Hanover on Wednesday night.

In girls high school basketball Monday:

• Sullivan 48, North Knox 38 — At Bicknell, Sierra Walters and Rhagen Smith scored 13 points each and Jaleigh Gilham hit four 3-pointers for 12 points as Class 3A’s ninth-ranked Golden Arrows won on the road in nonconference play.

Lauren Summers scored 14 for the Warriors.

Next — Sullivan (15-3) has its Senior Night on Thursday against Clay City. North Knox (7-9) plays Saturday at Vincennes Lincoln.

• Clay City 55, North Daviess 32 — At Clay City, Carmela Roeschlein and Brielle Drelick combined to outscore the visitors in SouthWestern Indiana Athletic Conference play.

Roeschlein had 20 points and Drelick 17 for Class A’s 14th-ranked Eels, who need a victory at Eastern Greene on Jan. 27 to win the SWIAC crown. Janae Wagler scored 18 for the Cougars.
