Shaw wins 300th for first-place Engineers

Bluffton 71, Rose-Hulman 61 — A first-half lead wouldn’t hold up as host Bluffton came back to defeat Rose-Hulman 71-61 on Saturday.

Junior Sheree Williams led Rose with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including a 3-for-4 performance from the 3-point line. Freshman Josie Schmidt added 11 points and seven rebounds and classmate Abbie Marshall chipped in the first double-double of her career with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with five assists.

The Engineers (8-15 overall, 6-10 HCAC) led by as many as 12 points (26-14) at the 8:38 mark in the first half, but the Beavers (13-10, 9-7) stormed back to tie the game at the half, 31-31.

Rose will return to action Wednesday for its final home game of the season when Franklin comes to Hulbert Arena for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
