Saturday’s Terre Haute Rex finale could have been a bittersweet affair. • Late night, tough loss: Nashville tops Terre Haute in 13-inning marathon

The formula for extra innings for the Terre Haute Rex is simple. If the day ends in a “y” you have a good chance to see free baseball at Bob Warn Field. Tuesday’s game against Nashville was no exception. The Outlaws forced extra innings with a two-run ninth inning and the game was decided in the 13th when Nashville broke through for an 11-9 victory in a game that lasted 4 hours, 41 minutes and which ended at nearly midnight.

Emotion is a two-way street in baseball. But the rule of thumb is that it’s a good thing when the team wins.
The Terre Haute Rex had some emotional moments — one in particular that nearly saw both teams boil over — against the Dupage Dragons at Bob Warn Field on Wednesday. But the 5-4 win over the Dragons allowed the Rex to take it all in stride.

  • Double split: Rex take first game vs. Dans, drop second

The “visiting” Terre Haute Rex did their scoring damage “Earley” and often in the first game of a Prospect League baseball doubleheader at Bob Warn Field on Saturday night. • Rex Notebook: Licon, Carlson give Terre Haute second half spark

When Terre Haute Rex players Jase Morgan, Derick Daniel and Jake Wood were hurt just before the Prospect League All-Star break, their absence took away half of the Rex total home run output (all from Morgan) along with the loss of .271 worth of combined production at the plate. The loss of the three players to the inactive list could have been acute, but instead, their replacements have given the Rex the charge they’ve needed to get off to a 4-1 start going into Wednesday’s Prospect League action.

  • First place feels good to Rex

There’s no magic bullet as to why the Terre Haute Rex are off to a first-place start in the second half of the Prospect League season.
