QUINCY, ILL. —
The Terre Haute Rex opened the second half of the Prospect League season with a 8-7 victory Tuesday night at Quincy Stadium.
Terre Haute South alum Jacob Hayes and Rex right fielder Patrick Chandler connected for three-run home runs to help the Rex build a 8-2 lead after six innings.
However, Quincy mounted a furious rally with three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth and ninth.
Rex closer Nick Blount closed the door on the Gems, tossing 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.
