TERRE HAUTE —
Terre Haute Rex first-year manager Bobby Segal will guide the West Division against the East Division, managed by Chillicothe’s Greg Cypret, in the Prospect League all-star baseball game, scheduled for tonight at Terre Haute’s Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.
A home-run derby will open the festivities at 5 p.m., with the game starting at 7:05.
Under league rules, the first-place team managers in each division through June 23 pilot the respective all-star teams. Segal’s Rex currently lead the West Division second-half standings with a 6-1 record.
Chillicothe has fallen to second place in the East Division with a 3-1 mark, trailing second-half leader Butler (6-1).
“I’m just really excited about what’s happening here,” Rex general manager/part owner Bruce Rosselli told the Tribune-Star on Monday. “Everything’s going really well. I’m proud of the way the Wabash Valley has been to the park to watch games … as well as all of our sponsors.”
The ticket booth will open at 3 p.m today. Prices are $12 for scout, $10 for reserve, $8 for grandstand and $5 for general admission. This is the first time that Terre Haute has served as host for the Prospect League All-Star Game.
Rex players on the West Division roster are first baseman Jeff Zahn, third baseman Ryan Sabo, center fielder Manuel De Jesus, designated hitter Cayce Bredlau, first baseman Grayson Atwood, second baseman Matthew Chavarria, right fielder Tony Rosselli and pitchers Reagan Biechler, Ben Morrison and Kevin Weissheier. Zahn is a recent addition to the all-star team.
Also on the West Division roster is Danville Dans utility man Cody Gardner, a current Indiana State player and former Terre Haute North High School standout.
