THE JOY LADY: Is it time to change your habits, attitudes?
I’m usually introduced to people as “the preacher’s wife.” No name, just “the preacher’s wife.” But I’d prefer being known by what I call my “I am” statements. For instance, I am a wife. I am a speaker, I am a writer. I am a mother, I am a mother-in-law, I am a grandmother.

The Joy Lady: ‘In the beginning’ there is a plot, morals and relevance
I’m a bibliophile — a book lover. Biographies. Historical fiction. Mysteries. Suspense. Chick lit. Classics. I am as crazy for Jane Austen as I am for Janet Evanovich. Charles Dickens and Nathaniel Hawthorne thrill me as much as John Grisham and James Patterson. And “Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy” has nothing on “The Scarlet Pimpernel.”

The Joy Lady: I pray our windows see what God sees in others
Once upon a time, a couple bought a new house in a new neighborhood. They quickly moved in, happy to be living in a better house in a better area. Their first morning in their house, they ate breakfast in their newly decorated breakfast nook when they noticed their elderly neighbor hanging her laundry on the clothesline in her back yard.
THE JOY LADY: And speaking of things coming down from above …
A little warning is needed before you read another word. You know that commercial airing all over every TV station so monotonously? You know, the one declaring that everything on the Internet is true? Remember that before you continue, and know that the fault is the Internet, not mine.

THE JOY LADY: Satan makes sin appear as harmless and as cute as squirrels
Before I begin, let me explain that I have nothing against squirrels. Squirrels are awfully cute as they scamper and chatter as they chase each other from tree to tree. But those squirrels have something that makes them awfully attractive. They are outside my house — where squirrels should be.
