CHURCH BRIEFS: Sept. 8, 2012

Grace Baptist

The public is invited to attend the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the church and to honor its founding pastor, Brother James B. Haddix, for 35 years of ministry and dedication to the work of the Lord on Sept. 9, 2012; 10 a.m. Sunday school; 11 a.m. Evangelist Scott Saxton to speak; noon dinner on the grounds; 1:30 p.m. 35th Anniversary Celebration service.

The church was founded on Sept. 11, 1977, as “seven born again” baptized believers stepped forward to sign the “official charter” which organized the church and became its first members. The church is independent, fundamental, soul winning and supports missionaries around the world.

Grace Baptist School was founded in August 1985, to educate our young people and challenge them to dedicate their lives to the Lord’s service. The Grace Baptist Camp was started in July 2005, as a summer youth ministry.

Pastor Haddix extends a warm invitation to all former members and friends of Grace Baptist to rejoice with us in these “35 Years of Grace” meetings on Sunday, at 10 a.m. The church is located at 1209 N. 19th St. Call (812) 917-5350 for transportation or (812) 249-3266.

Cornerstone Bible

The church, 65 Home Ave., is celebrating its 25th year of existence and would like to give thanks in celebration on Sunday, and would like to invite all of those who have attended in the past to share with us on that day. We will have our worship service at 10:45 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner (please bring a dish or two of food to share) and then back in the auditorium for a fun remembrance with special music, congregational singing, sharing, and a fun video presentation of some good old memories. Please come and be a part of this special day.

Rio Grande Baptist

Pastor Matt Larimer and the congregation of the church, 4411 E. Rio Grande Ave., invites you to Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., and worship service at 10:30 a.m. We have a family oriented service with music, and children’s message.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m. we provide Bible study for all ages and prayer time with Pastor Matt. This is a chance to connect with others during the week, share prayer requests and learn more about God’s word. We welcome everyone to attend.

On Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. we are offering the Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey. Participants will learn to manage their money “God’s way”, spend and save wisely, and much more. This class started on Sept. 6, so it is still possible to catch up if you are interested.

Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, the “Rock, Hop and Roll” music tour will make an appearance at Rio Grande featuring Nine Lashes, NF, The Wedding and Attaboy. Doors open at 5 p.m. Showtime is 5:45 p.m. Advance tickets are $8 or $10 at the door. For ticket information call (812) 230-8671.
