Puppeteers to celebrate Christmas Dec. 15 at Paris church

The Sonshine Puppeteers will present their 12th annual Christmas musical at 5:30 p.m. CST on Sunday in the Presbyterian Church, 241 W. Court St., Paris, Ill.

This year’s musical is titled “The Christmas Puzzle: How We’re All Part of God’s Picture.” The performance centers around four children who are snowbound at their grandmother’s house. They are very bored, with no modern technological advantages because the electricity is out. Grandma gives them an old Christmas puzzle that fails to interest them at first, until they learn that it is magical. Once the children begin to focus on the puzzle, the clues, accompanied by music, lead them to the true story of Christmas and how they are all a part of God’s “picture-perfect plan.”

Puppet characters include Andrew, Molly, Ethan and Ella — all elementary-school children — and Grandma, as well as appearances by the three Wise Men, one of their camels and King Herod.

The Sonshine Puppeteers include members from the fourth grade to adults. Puppeteers and propateers will present the musical with their arm-rod 18-inch puppets and hand-created props.

No tickets are required for the performance, but a freewill offering will be taken. Light refreshments will be served after the program, which will last about an hour. For more information contact puppet team director Barbara Bergdolt at 217-465-4680, or the church office at 217-465-5118.
