ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS —
Catholic women ages 18 to 42 are invited to join the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods for the annual “Come and See” weekend scheduled April 11-13.
Sister Editha Ben, vocations director, said the weekend is intended to help women discover what life would be like as a Sister of Providence at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
“The weekend is so important, necessary and exciting,” Sister Editha said. “They really come to see and have a taste of religious life.”
Sister Editha is in her third year as vocations director.
“They are women who would like to explore religious life,” Sister Editha said. “They listen to the stories of the sisters and get to experience the spirit of the congregation.”
Each year, the event has a theme. This year, it is “Living on the Margins: A Call to Religious Life.”
Women attending will have the opportunity to experience prayer and life with the sisters, join group reflections and meet others who are discerning.
“They get to integrate reflection, fun and learn some guidelines to discern,” Sister Editha said. “Just to be here with the peace and the quiet is a treat, and all the interaction with the sisters. They can ask questions.”
During their stay, women will be housed in Owens Hall. There is no charge for the weekend event. Meals also will be provided.
Those interested in attending are asked to register. For more information or to register, call Sister Editha at 812-535-2895 or email email@example.com.
