Becky Jones Lercher to perform
One of southern gospel music’s newest soloists, Becky Jones Lercher, will appear in concert at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at Martinsville First Christian Church, 324 N. York St., in Martinsville.
Southern gospel music is more than just going out and singing for Lercher; it is a way of life. Lercher sang for many years with her family, the Stanley Jones Singers, with the exception of time spent to complete her bachelor’s degree at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn. She continued her love of singing there with the group Rejoice. After the retirement of the Stanley Jones Singers at the end of 2004, Lercher continued singing with a solo ministry.
She has enjoyed many achievements in her career, with national awards for both her musical and vocal abilities. She has also had the opportunity to perform in places such as Silver Dollar City and the Americana Theatre in Branson, Mo.; Precious Moments; the Inspiration Television Network; and TBN’s Trinity Music City. She has shared the stage with many well-known artists including the Kingsmen, the Bishops, the Ruppes, the Dixie Melody Boys and more.
Admission to the concert is free, but a love offering will be taken. For more information call Randy Smith at 217-232-8087.
