The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE — First United Methodist Church is planning its annual Chili Day for Nov. 5. The church is at 702 Plum St., in Marshall, Ill.

The event, organized by the church’s United Methodist Women, has been in existence for many years, and the same soups, sandwiches and desserts will be served. Visitors can have breakfast, lunch or supper in the church’s fellowship hall. Food may also be purchased for carry-out. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at the church office. A variety of baked goods, crafts and plants will also be available for purchase.

Breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Patrons can choose from a variety of breakfast entrees, juice and coffee for a free-will donation.

Lunch and supper will be served continuously from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. The lunch and supper menus are the same: chili or broccoli cheese soup; either ham salad, cheese spread or a hot dog sandwich; one of a variety of desserts; and the choice of a drink. The adult meal will cost $8. A meal of sandwich or soup, chips, dessert and drink will cost $4 for children 10 years of age and under. A la carte items are also available for $3.

The United Methodist Women will be offering a selection of items for sale from the United Methodist Committee on Relief. A variety of jewelry and scarves, as well as items for home decoration or gifts, will be displayed for sale in the church library.
