Sisters to offer Personal Day of Prayer
Persons interested in taking a day away from the hustle and bustle of life are invited to join the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods at 9 a.m. Saturday for Personal Day of Prayer.
Sister Paula Damiano, Providence Spirituality and Conference Center director of programs and retreats, said the day is intended for persons who need to get away from the stress and busyness of everyday life while enjoying a quiet day in the presence of God.
“This is a day for people to get away for a time of prayer, quiet reflection and possibly a walk around the grounds,” she said. “It’s essentially a day everyone longs for, but no one can really ever take.”
An opening prayer will begin the event, followed by suggestions for those participating. At 11:30 a.m., those attending are invited to join the Sisters of Providence for Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Lunch will be available for those interested.
Events will conclude at 4 p.m.
The deadline to register is Sunday. Cost is $25.
For more information or to register, call 812-535-2952 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

THE JOY LADY: Captivating, making obedient our minds, word by word
The last part of 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Now come on, Apostle Paul. Capture every thought? I mean, really. Is that possible?

THE JOY LADY: Evidence of our faith is not evident when we know what to do
Sometimes bad things happen to us. That’s usually when we ask, “Why, Lord?” But I wonder, do we have the right to ask that in the bad times if we’ve never asked it during the good times?
The Joy Lady: What should we do when we get annoyed with every day events?
I confess. Sometimes I get pretty annoyed with other people. Especially when they don’t do things just as I would have them done.

The Joy Lady: Important questions we should ask ourselves every day
I recently attended a memorial service at the nursing home where my stepfather spent the last years of his life. It wasn’t a big service, there were no bands or flags or special speaker brought in. Nor was it a service where people bowed their heads in silent prayer as the names of the loved ones were read.
