TERRE HAUTE —

St. Mary-of-the-Woods

Prayer, watercolor painting Oct. 5

A “Painting, Praying and Playing with Watercolor” program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Participants will be introduced to simple, playful techniques of painting with watercolor as a means of entering into prayer and spiritual reflection.

“Essentially it is a way of deepening one’s spiritual life, one’s inner life. It’s very freeing; it’s playful; it’s simple. It really is a prayerful, prayerful experience,” said Sister Paula Damiano, director of retreats and programs for Providence Spirituality and Conference Center at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, which is hosting the event.

Sister Corlita Bonnarens will lead the event. She is director of creative spirituality at Mercy Center at St. Louis and has a master’s degree in art and spirituality. She has directed retreats and workshops integrating art and spirituality for more than 30 years.

People of all skill levels and faith backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

The cost for the program is $75. It will take place in the activity room in Providence Hall at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Providence. Registration prior to Sept. 27 is preferred. To register call 812-535-2952 or email provctr@spsmw.org. For more information visit www.ProvCenter.org.
