Members of the church at 545 Jackson St. in Brazil are hosting their annual Women Day Servise on Sunday. This week Pastor Frank will be preaching about “Antidote for Spiritual Infection” based upon Psalm 118:1-9. We live in a busy time. We often get so busy that we don’t take time to “smell the roses.” Followers of Jesus Christ, can often times fall into times of doubt due to certain circumstances and experiences. However, the psalmist provides an antidote for this “spiritual infection.” The antidote is called “Praise.” Come and learn why we should praise God, when we should praise God and what happens when we praise God. We invite you to come and hear more about how God can and will use you in this community and in His kingdom. Pastor Frank’s Sunday Sermons are also available online every Tuesday. Worship service at 1207 E. Springhill Dr. is 10:30 a.m. Pastor Linda Peters message “New Love: New Mercy,” based on Matthew 12:1-8 and Lamentations 3:21-24 . This Sunday Stewardship begins. The theme this year comes from Lamentations: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, God’s mercies never come to an end.”

Central Christian
— Disciples of Christ
Today is our annual Jonah Fish Fry. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $4 for children 4-11. This includes all you can eat of fish, bread, drink, and choice of side dishes. Carryout will be available. This year we are also having a Fall Festival with bingo, games, cake walk, bake sale, bouncy houses, face painting, music and other fun activities. These events will be from 1 to 7 p.m., and are open to the community. Proceeds will benefit the Koinonia ministries of Central Christian Church. 10 percent of the profits will be donated to the United Campus Ministries.
One of the ministries supported by our church is Wabash Valley PATH, a non-profit agency doing comprehensive HIV prevention, education, and offering free HIV testing in six area counties, (Vigo, Clay, Vermillion, Parke, Sullivan and Putnam). To raise funds for their program, PATH is sponsoring the “Win A Victory” raffle. Tickets are for a chance to win a 2009 Victory Vegas motorcycle valued at $18,500. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Fish Fry. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets will be available at the Fish Fry. Our worship service Sunday will begin at 9:30 a.m. We continue our focus on sharing our faith and deepening our relationship with God through our Unbinding the Gospel E-vent. A “Children’s Moment” will be led by Rev. Rebecca. Communion is served every Sunday, and all believers are invited to partake. Nursery care is provided during worship and Sunday School.
St. Francis of Assissi is a saint of the church universal who is remembered as a lover of animals and all of creation. Every October we remember the witness and ministry of St. Francis as we observe a Blessing of the Animals service. Immediately after worship we will gather in our parking lot to ask God’s blessing upon our pets. You are invited to bring your pet(s), a photo of your pet, or a stuffed animal to this service. If your pet has died within the past year, please contact Rev. Rebecca and she will include your pet’s name in a special part of the service.
Sunday School will begin at 11 a.m. Classes are offered for children of all ages as well as two adult classes. One of our adult classes studies books of the Bible while the other adult class is focusing on sharing our faith and how we can strengthen our relationship with God.
Our General Board will meet at noon Sunday for a time of prayer and conducting the business of the church.

The Bible Study Hour at 9:30 will feature Adult, Teen and Junior Classes using the Bible as the text for life and eternity. Dave Thomas will lead the adult class; Pelo and Heather Lopez lead the teen class and Vicki Aguilar the junior class.
The 10:30 Worship Hour will feature a biblical message featuring Larry Lilly’s sermon, “Christians In Their Mid-Night Hour.” This week’s case delves into the rock solid faith of the Apostle John who wrote the book of revelation. Larry will point out that during John’s time of imprisonment on Patmos, he was more solid than the rock which he quarried.
Dick and Judy Triestram will present a special illustrated gospel truth for Integrated Family Worship Time.
The Junior Singers and the Ladies Trio will present special music.
At 6 p.m. Larry Lilly will speak on the subject “The Christian Soldier’s Full Armor;” this first in the series sermon deals with the proper attitude and battle gear of Christian soldiers in any era. This series of sermons will be very helpful in these troubled times.

Trinity Lutheran
Please come and join us during our September through May worship times at 8:15 am and 10:45 am each Sunday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 2620 Ohio Blvd. here in Terre Haute. St. George’s

There will be a church carry-in after the 10 a.m. service Sunday (Oct. 18) as St. George’s welcomes a new member to its “Parade of Priests.” The Rev. Canon Bruce Gray, canon to the ordinary of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis, will lead both Christian Education and Holy Eucharist Rite II. The congregation is asked to bring a dish to share.
Christian Education is from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. in Taylor Hall and Holy Eucharist begins at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Gray joined the diocesan staff in February of this year as Canon to the Ordinary, replacing the Rev. Canon Peder Berdahl. Before joining the Indianapolis diocese as canon to the ordinary, Gray spent 24 years as a parish priest, including the last 12 yeas as rector of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Whittier, Cal., diocese of Los Angeles. No stranger to small churches, Gray was vicar of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, Ind., in the 1980s.
