House of HOPE benefit set today
A benefit for the House of HOPE is noon to 4 p.m. today at House of HOPE, 5525 W. U.S. 40, four miles west of Brazil.
The event features live bands Star Cross and On Purpose. A bike show includes the Unchained Gang Motorcycle Ministry.
The cookout concession is by the House of HOPE. Everyone is welcome.

Sonshiners Quartet to perform Sunday
The Sonshiners Quartet will be in concert at 10 a.m. Sunday in the First Christian Church of Casey.
The church is at 200 S.E. Eighth St.
In 2003, the Sonshiners experienced national radio play recognition for their single release “All Aboard” from their “Tried and True” album.
In February 2004, the quartet charted at No. 91 with “All Aboard” in the Singing News. In September 2006, the Sonshiners Quartet charted No. 69 with the single release “One of These Days” from their “Safe Harbor” project.
In 2007, they hit the national market with two radio releases, “I Get Happy” and “I am With you Always” from the “Get Happy” project and then in January 2008, “Turn It Up” was released from their most recent project “Just Stand.”
No tickets are needed for this concert, although a free-will offering will be received.

Church to celebrate 45th anniversary
Bible Baptist Church will be celebrating their 45th anniversary and Open House on Sunday. The church experienced major water damage in the school and gym on June 7. The school had up to 4 feet of water, and the gym had more than 1 foot. Inventory in the school also was lost.
As a result, the church and gym were able to be completely remodeled at no expense to the ministry.
This Sunday the church wants to invite the community to come and see what great things the Lord has done for them. The guest speaker for the day is Dr. Bob Hamblin. Special music will be provided by Darcel McCoy from Hot Springs, Ark. The times of the services are 9:30 a.m. for Sunday school, 10:30 a.m. for morning service and 6 p.m. A free lunch is provided in the gym following the morning service for everyone in attendance.
Pastor Parker and the wonderful people of Bible Baptist Church would like to invite you and your family to join with them this Sunday for a great day of celebration and victory.
Pastor oldest in church history
The Rev. Bennett L. Howse of Jasonville, and formerly of Terre Haute, was recognized Oct. 4 by the International Church of Foursquare Gospel as being the oldest ordained pastor in the church’s history.
Howse, who turned 101 on June 7, has been ordained for 80 years. He is retired from Foursquare Gospel Church on North 13th Street in Terre Haute and now preaches every Monday morning in the Good Samaritan Nursing Center at Jasonville.
Howse was honored during a reception and awards ceremony in the Chestnut Room of the Terre Haute Holiday Inn.
The International, based in Los Angeles, Calif., represents 39,000 churches.
