St. Stephen’s Episcopal

Adult Children of Alcoholics Support Group – If you are an adult child (male or female) of an alcoholic parent or parents we invite you to join Pastor Frank and others to discuss the characteristics and behaviors of adult children affected by Alcoholism. St. George’s Episcopal
The Rev. Michael Stichweh of Indianapolis will provide insight on “The Extra Easter Stories of John” during Adult Christian Education this Sunday (July 5) at St. George’s. Stichweh’s unique analysis of the scripture always adds a little something “extra” to the topic and often gives those in attendance a new perspective.
Adult Christian Education is from 9:15 – 9:45 a.m. in Taylor Hall, and Holy Eucharist, Rite II, is at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Stichweh also will be celebrant for Holy Eucharist
Coffee hour with food and fellowship follows the service. All are welcome to attend all services.
Stichweh, who served most of his ministry as a parish priest and headmaster in New York City, retired to downtown Indianapolis in 2005 after “semi-retirement” in Florida. He had moved to Winter Park, Fla., in 1995 and became part-time priest-in-charge at St. Matthias Church in Clermont, Fla. The church increased in size and a larger building was needed, as was a full-time priest. Stichweh then fully retired and moved to downtown Indianapolis.

Centenary United Methodist
The congregation of Centenary, at 301 N. Seventh St. in Terre Haute’s Arts Corridor and adjacent to Indiana State University, welcomes you to our beautiful 143-year old church. We invite you to worship with us in our “Prayer and Praise Time” at 9 a.m. Then at 9:30a.m., hear Rev. At 10:30 celebrates our liberty as a nation and as Christians with the worship theme being “Liberty: Its Price.” National and Spiritual liberty can only be preserved by adhering to the principles which are the foundation of a free people. Pastor Larry Lilly will present the biblical essentials of liberty and point out where we as a nation and as Christians have departed from these foundational truths and how to reaffirm these truths and walk in them.
The Sounds of Victory and Heather Lopez will present special music. The 6 service will be conducted in the homes of members of Berean. Berean Baptist Church is at 6770 N. Clinton St. in Terre Haute.
Central Christian Church - Disciples of Christ
Our worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m. A “Children’s Moment” will be led by Rev. Rebecca. The Young Church’s Blessing Box will be passed throughout the congregation. The money the children collect this year will be donated to an organization called Kiva. Kiva provides micro-loans for people in developing countries who are starting a business. More than 90 percent of those who receive loans are able to pay them back. Our Young Church will determine later this year the person or persons who will receive a loan because of our gifts. Communion is served every Sunday, and all believers are invited to partake. Nursery care is provided during worship and Sunday School.
Sunday School will begin at 11a.m. Rev. Rebecca is leading our adult Cornerstone Class in a new series “Living The Questions.” This series will include video presentations, handouts, and discussions. Children’s Sunday School classes have finished for the school year. They will resume with the new school year.
Vacation Bible School for the children will be held July 12-16, 2009. It is held each evening from 6 - 8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Crocodile Dock, and we will travel to the bayou where fearless kids shine through God’s light. Many exciting activities have been planned including crafts, games, music, refreshments, a service project, and worship. Children from the community are invited to join us.
Our Elders will meet at noon Sunday for a time of prayer and study.

The church at 1915 Buckeye St. will observe the 68th Church Homecoming with a three day weekend celebration beginning July 10th with a Fish Fry, a Picnic on July 11 and concluding with July 12 worship services. A Traditional service is at 9 a.m. and an informal service is at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Ron Riggs is serving as interim pastor while our senior pastor is on sabbatical leave. His sermon topic for this Sunday will be “The Eagle Has Landed” with scripture text from Isaiah 40. Special music will include a duet by Chad & Jennifer White and an instrumental duet by Julie Dugger, oboe and Jean Penry, flute. Christian Science
In the teachings of Christian Science we learn that there are seven synonyms for God. They are Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. All of these names can be found in the Bible and they describe God’s nature. This Sunday’s service will show how these names help us to understand the infinite, divine presence and power of God and how each of these names relates to the source of our very being. The service is at 10:30 a.m. in the Church at 329 S. 6th St.
Young people are welcomed at our Sunday School which begins at the same time and teaches the basics of Christian living with lessons on the Commandments and Christ’s teachings.
Wednesday’s we hold service at 7:30 p.m. The lesson for this week’s service is “What Constitutes Spiritual Man?” The service includes hymns and readings from the Bible and our textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy. You can also hear how others have been healed of physical problems through the application of prayer as taught in Christian Science.
We maintain a public Reading Room in the Church. It is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday. Science and Health and other inspirational literature is available to read, borrow, or purchase. A librarian who can answer your questions is also present. The community is welcome to all services.

First Congregational
First Congregational Church, 630 Ohio, invites everyone to worship with us this Sunday as Rev. Donald Mullen reminds us all of the power of Freedom. Members are encouraged to attend the called Congregational Meeting on July 12 after the 10:30 service. The membership will be voting on the recommendation of the Pulpit Committee to issue a call to Rev. Dawn Carlson to serve as minister of the church, beginning Jan. 1, 2010.
