Centenary United Methodist
The congregation of Centenary, located at 301 North Seventh Street in Terre Haute’s Arts Corridor and adjacent to Indiana State University, welcomes you to our beautiful 143 year old church. The Berean Baptist Bible Study Hour at 9:30 will feature Lauren Lopez teaching the Junior Class, Pelo and Heather Lopez teaching the Teen Class (Teen Class leaves church at 9:21 for McDonalds) and the Adult Class meeting in the auditorium.
At 10:30 Larry Lilly will preach a sermon titled, “Rediscovering An Old Remedy.” This sermon will feature the how and why of involving scripture in reviving courage. While talking with a friend who was facing surgery Larry says his friend remarked, “When things really get me down, I start using the Bible on myself.” Larry will share just how this older saint makes this near forgotten remedy work.
The Junior Singers, John and Lauren Lopez and Judy Marsh will present special music.
At 6 Larry will preach on the subject, “A Church With A Reputation.” This look into the inner workings of the church at Thessalonica will point out the very positive activities of this First Century church. The mind/heart set of the church is a grand pattern for today’s Christian.

Christian Science
In 1866 Mary Baker Eddy discovered the principles and divine laws of spiritual healing as demonstrated by Christ Jesus. This revelation lead to the founding of a religion which she named Christian Science. Based on the spiritual truths in the Bible, it has been an effective system of healing for about 140 years. This Sunday’s sermon, entitled “Christian Science,” will explain why it is still effective since it is the Comforter promised by Jesus is here now for everyones benefit and enlightenment. All are welcome to this service to learn why Christian Science is the fulfillment of Biblical prophesy. The service begins at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday School meets at the same time and teaches pupils how to use the truths from the Bible and “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures”, by Mary Baker Eddy, to bring health and harmony into their lives.
Wednesday service is at 7:30 p.m. and includes hymns and readings from the Bible and “Science and Health.” After the sermon, the congregation may express gratitude for healings and tell how they were accomplished through the use of prayer alone.
The Christian Science Reading Room is open to the public on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. from 11 am to 1 p.m. In this loving area you may study the Bible and Christian Science literature or spend time in quiet prayer.

First Congregational
The church at 630 Ohio St. invites everyone to worship with us this Sunday as we celebrate Youth Sunday during the 10:30 service. The entire worship service will be conducted by our Youth Group. We will be enjoying special prayers and music and the message will be brought by Tara Hensle.
We have two morning services, the 8:30 meditative service and the 10:30 traditional service. The Youth Group meets at 10 a.m. in the Upper Room at First Church. Children’s Sunday School is at 10:45, after the Children’s Sermon.
Members are encouraged to attend the called Congregational Meeting on July 12 after the 10:30 service. The membership will be voting on the recommendation of the Pulpit Committee to issue a call to Rev. Dawn Carlson to serve as minister of the church, beginning January 1.

First Baptist
A Traditional service is at 9 a.m. and an informal service is at 11:15 a.m. The Rev. Ron Riggs will be serving as interim pastor during the next three months while our senior pastor is on sabbatical leave. His sermon topic for this Sunday will be “Reaching All the Bases” with scripture text from Hebrews 10. Special music will be presented at both services by vocal soloist Jim Tucker and violin soloist Nathan Dugger. Children’s Church is held during the first service for grades k-3 and a children’s story is included at both services. St. George’s Episcopal
Sunday will be the annual St. George’s summer picnic at the North Cabin on St. Mary-of-the-Woods campus. The Rev. Chuck Ellestad of Frankfort, Ky., will be celebrant for Holy Eucharist, Rite II, which begins at 10 a.m. in the cabin. The Ann B. Hayes Memorial Scholarships will be presented to Kristen Hammonds and Keaton O’Laughlin during the service.
The picnic will begin after the service. There will be no Christian Education this Sunday nor will there be any services at the church. Picnic goers are asked to bring a dish to share, utensils, drink and a chair or blanket to sit on. After the picnic those who wish may participate in games or just sit and enjoy the fellowship.
Ellestad retired in 2006 as rector of the Church of the Ascension in Frankfort after serving more than 16 years there. Even though retired from the Church of the Ascension, Ellestad continues to be active in the ministry, serving as priest-in-charge of St. Joseph’s mission, a nursing home ministry in Lawrenceburg, Ky. He also is employed by Hospice of the Bluegrass as a stipendiary chaplain from the Frankfort office. In addition, Ellestad serves as priest “pro tempore” (when he’s not at St. George’s) of St. Hubert’s Episcopal Church in Clark County, Ky., diocese of Lexington.

Pastor Frank will be out of town for the next four Sundays, but Mark Wehr, a local lay speaker out of Mt. Pleasant UMC will be at Northside Community UMC this week. On July 5 Northside Community will have The Crystal Valley Quartet performing. Then on July 12 Gary Flora, a local lay speaker from Mt. Pleasant UMC will be bringing the message. Adult Children of Alcoholics Support Group – If you are an adult child (male or female) of an alcoholic parent or parents we invite you to join Pastor Frank and others to discuss the characteristics and behaviors of adult children affected by alcoholism. Pastor Frank meets on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at Northside Community UMC and is working through The Twelve Steps of Adult Children of Alcoholics. We would like to thank Michelle Earley for coordinating our 2009 VBS and to all those who participated and helped out during our Vacation Bible School this past week. Special thanks to the Stepping Stones Daycare and their kitchen staff for helping us with the lunch. We would like to thank the parents for allowing us the privilege of ministering to your children, and to the kids for helping all of us have a fun time. Fun was definitely had by all involved. Our prayer is that all the kids will take what they have learned in fun, and apply it to their spiritual development.
