RAMBLIN' RECK: Hile inducted into Hall

TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State grad Amy Lynn Hile will take her place in another Hall of Fame this year.

Inducted into the ISU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005, the former Sycamore standout has been named as one of the 2011 inductees into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

The 1983 Indiana All-Star set nine school records while playing at Fort Wayne Dwenger and remains the leading scorer in Fort Wayne girls basketball with 1,301 points.

She is the leading scorer and rebounder in the ISU record books with 1,944 points and 916 rebounds. She also is in the top 10 in games played, free throw percentage, steals, blocks and rebounding and scoring average.

A future Sycamore had a nice day last week in the Hall of Fame Classic. Makenzi Reasor plays for Mt. Vernon. The Marauders lost to powerful Penn 62-41 and defeated Roncalli 72-46. Reasor had 19 points against Roncalli and was named to the all-tournament team.

• Another tourney — High school teams were busy in basketball tournaments last week and some of them will be in action again this week in the Greene County Invitational that tips off tonight at White River Valley.

Eastern was the winner a year ago and is the leader in titles won in recent seasons. The Thunderbirds are tough again this season, taking a 6-1 mark into the competition. They lost their season opener to Owen Valley.

Two other teams also have lost just once this season. Clay City is 7-1 — losing for the first time last week — and WRV is 6-1, losing only to Bloomfield.

Shakamak took tourney honors in 2010 and 2008 and is 5-3, splitting decisions in the Pizza Hut Wabash Valley Classic.

Linton also was in the Classic and has a deceiving 3-5 record.

Bloomfield has not been in the tournament but may be in the event next season and may drop out of the Wabash Valley Classic.

At one time, most of the Greeene County teams competed in the same sectional at WRV but that no longer is true.

Tyler Talpas is one of the players for Union and again was in the top 10 in Indiana scoring totals last week with a 26.3 average.

Joe Reed of Center Grove was seventh in scoring at 24.1 and third in rebounding with 88 boards.

Wednesday’s games — Shakamak (5-3) vs. Clay City (7-1), 6 p.m., followed by WRV (6-1) vs. Vincennes Rivet (2-6)
