INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police say an officer was injured trying to break up a bar fight at the city’s fan-packed Super Bowl Village.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Jose Navarro injured his right elbow in Wednesday night’s at Kilroy’s, a downtown bar.

The Indianapolis Star reports 22-year-old Austin Glenn of Indianapolis faces preliminarily charges of disorderly conduct, battery and battery with injury to a police officer.

Police said Glenn got upset when a man cut in front of him in the line to the bar’s bathroom and began swinging at him and a second man.

When Navarro tried to take Glenn down, police said Glenn instead pulled the officer to the ground, causing Navarro to land on his elbow. Navarro was hospitalized but did not break any bones in his fall.
