Hendrix Memorial Closed City Tennis Championships resume today

The 40th Terre Haute Curt Hendrix Memorial Closed City Tennis Championships had 120 entrants competing in singles and doubles play at Rea Park and South High School on Friday.
Rain and other scheduling conflicts forced the conclusion of the tournament to be postponed until today.
This year’s tournament is sponsored by Mike Hambrock of A.G. Edwards and Sons.

Baseball
-- Riley 10-and-under wins tournament — The Riley 10-and-under all-star team won their first tournament this weekend. They won all four games played, defeating Mooresville 11-0, Seymour 6-0, Brownstown 11-5, and Smithville 4-3.
Offensively, the team was led by Jacob Johnson going 5 for 8 with a pair of home runs. Also hitting home runs were Clayton Streeter, Logan Steward, Mitchell Clinkenbeard and Nathan Will. Nick Prevo and Jacob Johnson led the team’s pitching, allowing only four runs runs.
Riley will host Cal Ripken District Tournament play starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Teams members: Cody Brock, Mitchell Clinkenbeard, Wyatt Harrison, TIm Herrin, Jacob Johnson, Denim Matchett, Ryan Moshak, Nick Prevo, Logan Steward, Clayton Streeter, Nathan Will and Korbin Williams. David Will is manager, along with coaches Mark Clinkenbeard and Bob Johnson.
Auto racing
-- Briscoe prevails — At Paragon, Kevin Briscoe won the King of Indiana Sprint Series feature Saturday at Paragon Speedway.
Briscoe won his heat and the main event at the Morgan County track. Jon Sciscoe was second and Jon Stanbrough third in the feature.
KISS action is scheduled Saturday at The Action Track in Terre Haute.

-- Humphrey wins pair — At Putnamville, Ray Humphrey was a double winner in Saturday’s full card of racing at Lincoln Park Speedway.
Three makeup features were run in addition to the regular program.
Humphrey won both of the features for the modifieds.
Billy Puterbaugh edged Shawn Krockenberger in the only sporint feature for his second win of the season at the track.
Other winners were Doug McCullough and Kenny Carmichael in super stocks and Kenny Carmichael Jr. and Ritchie Hawkins in bombers.
Carmichael Jr. also was dominant in the feature for sprint cars before being slowed by a flat tire and taking third.
Regular racing is set for this week followed by a fireworks display.
