---- — I first heard of sarin poison gas when it was used by a religious fanatic in the Tokyo subway system. Many people died, many people were made sick. Now, it appears the dictator in Syria has used sarin gas against his own people. Hundreds of children were killed, a thousand or more civilians. This, too, has a religious connotation. President Bashar al-Assad of Syria belongs to an offshoot of the Shiite Muslim faith while most of his nation is Sunni Muslims. He may use that as justification for this recent attempt at genocide.

President Obama wants to strike Syrian targets with Tomahawk missiles and, perhaps, some aircraft strikes. The object is to cripple the Syrian Air Force and its communications systems giving the Rebels a better chance to stay alive.

This Congress, especially the right wing of the Republican Party, is infamous for saying no, no, no to just about everything. They have been screaming for us to do something in Syria. Now, the president has lined up his military advisors and is about to do what they have been screaming for.

So, President Obama has said it would be in the best interest of our country if these elected representatives approve of these plans. It would allow our strong military to let the Syrian government know any more stupidity with lethal poisonous gas could be totally disastrous for the people now in power.

Those right-wing fools who like to think of themselves as patriots and the extreme liberal left of the Democratic Party can stand together for the first time in a truly patriotic act in which they can assist this country.

I don’t think they will. They want to pound their chests and scream and yell, but I do not think they will vote yes for this idea. Of course, not voting for the president’s plan means more people in Syria and perhaps their neighbors will die of gas attacks. More innocent civilians, more innocent children will die because of this congressional lack of concern about these people and their chances of living or dying.

I thought John McCain’s big thing that will go down in history was agreeing to make Sarah Palin his running mate. Now, it may be his stand to save the innocent children of Syria. Lindsey Graham has a chance to go down in history for saving innocent children in Syria. I pray to God this will be true and, if you’re a Muslim, I hope you will pray to Allah to stop this insanity. I hope the opposition to this in Congress will not leave innocent blood on their hands.
