At the recent NRA Convention in Houston, Texas, where the right-wing political hot air almost lifted the convention's building off its foundation, the NRA trotted out the forever yours political dame of the right wing, Sarah Palin. Sarah did not disappoint. She accused the President of using the families of the murdered children in Newtown, Conn., in order to get passage of national background checks. The purpose was to get background checks made on anyone buying a gun. The argument is good people buying a gun will be somewhat intimidated by having a background check and, of course, that would slow down the commerce between “good” citizens and their right to sell their weapons.
The NRA keeps yelling about the Constitution of the United States and that's a big scam. They don't care about the Constitution. In fact, they don't care much about America except for the fact they and their clients, they who support them, make a ton of money and continue to propagate the manufacturer and the usage of military-style weapons that are intended only to kill other human beings.
Sarah Palin is like an overdone singer. She only knows the one song and she will keep singing it as long as there's someone to pay her to come to their place and sing the same, tired, old song.
Sarah left her elected office of Governor of Alaska and set out to make money for herself and her family. She has since signed with Fox News. She was a perfect fit … not terribly smart, but terribly loud. But even Sarah Palin got a little too crazy for Fox News and her contract was not renewed. John McCain will always be remembered as the presidential candidate who flung this right-wing, lipstick-wearing mama on the rest of America.
The writers of the Constitution were writing about single-shot muskets or rifles, not semi-automatic weapons. The science fiction writers would not get automatic pistols and machine guns onto print until the 19th century.
Every time someone screams that the government is growing a list of people who have certain kinds of weapons, unless you're talking about illegal weapons, you're absolutely wrong. The only people in America who will come and take your guns away are these home-grown militias gathering without legal standing and when they come to take your guns, they'll be under the pay of the hugely rich, right-wing money supporters. They only want you now because they haven't gotten their hands on the government. And when they do, somebody from one of these militias will be at your front door wanting your weapons. Think about it.
