TERRE HAUTE — Cringing over

health care law

As I watch the President pontificate about the Unaffordable Health Care Act (he refuses to call it Obamacare now), I have to cringe. It appears he views all Americans as fools with no memories or minds of their own. He talks about covering more people when that was not how this bill of goods was sold; 90 percent of Americans had health care coverage when this bill was passed and it appears that less will have it due to this abomination.

It was sold to us as a “control” for health care costs. Remember him promising “this bill will reduce premiums by $2,500.” Well, according to the Investor’s Business Daily,  the average increase since his promise is estimated at $3,000 dollars, largely due to Obamacare. Add this to the other lies, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it” or “if you like your doctor, you can keep him” and you can see why I cringe anytime he speaks.

He repeatedly blames Republicans for not “going along” or offering “alternatives” when too often they have done both. They folded on their efforts to defund this and there are multitudes of proposals that have been voted on in the house that do not get to see the light of day thanks to Harry Reid and the Senate. The people are smart enough to know that a party that controls 1⁄2 of 1⁄3 of the major branches of government is not the one to blame for this monstrosity.

It is also cringe-worthy to hear him speak of how the website will get better after they spent a half billion dollars for something that is non functional (can you imagine the CEO of Amazon going to its shareholders after spending that much money and telling them “don’t worry, if we just spend more money and wait six months, I’m sure it will be better)?”

The website is probably the most functional item in this law. Its sole purpose seems to grow government and redistribute money from working American families. It does nothing for health care other than to inhibit a stellar medical system much the same way government intervention does to everything it touches.

If you spend a half billion dollars and cannot even get a simple website to work, what arrogance makes you think you should be in charge of health care for American citizens? I suppose if you are a bald-faced liar like this president, it’s just another day at the office. Joe Wilson was so right.
