RONN MOTT: Continuous War

The President spoke to the nation the other day about being at a continuous war, and he didn’t feel it is a good thing for the country. He is absolutely correct. So what do we do with the Muslim terrorists? They are propping up their justifications of this so-called Jihad on books that were written about the time of the Christian Crusades into the Middle East. The Christian armies based their invasion on their holy text, the Christian Bible. Many people in the Arab world have never forgiven us for those invasions.

The First World War was fought and won by the allies as the war to end all wars. It toppled empires, drove kings to abdicate, and certainly ended some social structures that failed to hang on.

It wasn’t the “first world war.” Only the Chinese knew about anything in Asia, south of China. The Romans would trade with people who have traded with India and of course before that Alexander the Great, a Macedonian Prince, would drive his armies into India and really be involved in what was the first true world war.

I’ve written about this before, but it is worth mentioning until finally somebody gets it right. The Prophet Mohammed told his warriors to have respect for the people of the Book, meaning the Bible of Jews and Christians, and that worked for many years. It is not working now because the Islamic extremists are paying little attention to the Koran, the holy book of Islam. They instead are embracing the writings of the men who were angry about the Christian Crusades.

Most of you don’t want to see this in print, but bite your lip and read on. The Chinese, whose economy is growing by leaps and bounds, has no army outside the confines of their national borders. Maybe we should pay attention.

It is a clash of culture and if we cannot use the great power we possess, get out, come home, and let someone else worry about the Taliban, the Sunnis, and the Shiites. We have lost a few thousand young men and women, and the countries we have fought over will certainly not be any different than when we went in. The British in 1775 could not understand the way we fought (rifle sharp-shooters killing their officers). We do not understand the Taliban, their hatred of educated women, and their rigid rules of governing people.

Genghis Khan was the last general to defeat the Afghanistan people. He did it by destroying their wonderful agricultural system of irrigation and canals to water their many crops. He destroyed their well-controlled agricultural growth and they have yet to recover.

Since we are not prepared to obliterate their entire country with atomic warfare, then let’s pick up our marbles and let someone else get their young people killed. It will not be a defeat, but a recognition that a war that has now taken approximately 10 years will not come to a conclusion that any American would like.
