(Honors for strong commitment)

TERRE HAUTE — Being designated a 2013 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation is no accident for Terre Haute. It’s the result of a community partnership long in the making. And the recognition duly honors the community’s commitment to effective urban forest management.

Meeting the requirements to earn a Tree City USA designation isn’t easy. And the community should be proud of the continued work it puts into making this a tree-friendly place to live.

We applaud and congratulate all who had a role in continuing this longtime effort.

Rebuilding the baseball brand

The Terre Haute Rex will soon be opening another season of Prospect League baseball with new ownership, new management and new enthusiasm. We like what we hear.

A tip of the baseball cap to general manager Bruce Roselli and the rest of his management team and sponsors. They hope to expand and grow the interest of the Rex fan base in an effort to increase attendance numbers. We hope lots of baseball fans turn out to cheer them on.

You can say that again

“I am proud of our community and their commitment to maintain and plant trees. A healthy canopy brings immeasurable benefits to our community.”
