Tourney’s return to Terre Haute speaks volumes

Wouldn’t it be fun to gather a large group of townspeople and have an old-fashioned pep rally for the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Vigo County School Corp. for bringing the Indiana girls basketball state championships back to Terre Haute again?

When I first heard the news, and learned that it was a unanimous vote by the Indiana High School Athletic Association, my initial thought was, “Wow,” because I had heard that it would not return to Terre Haute in 2014.

Of course, there are other community partners who deserve cheers as well, such as city, county and business leaders and Indiana State University. It is a team effort, for sure. To bring this tournament back to Terre Haute is true testimony to the professionalism put forth by the core planners.

A tip of Terre Haute’s top hat to all who are involved in this success.

Better way sto stop waste

It must be tax deductive. We now see that our current top exec (president) will give back a portion of his salary. What a noble gesture.

No thanks! If you really want to help, stop wasting millions of our tax dollars on vacations and parties at the palace. Your charisma is fading fast,
