---- — Bucshon not representing  his district

Congressman Larry Bucshon has stated that the majority of people in the Eighth District think that Obamacare either needs to be repealed or significantly changed because there are issues with it. That is a mouthful of a statement with two entirely different opinions that should not be rolled into one statement.

I do not know if the majority of the Eighth District wants The Affordable Care Act repealed.

I do know that:

The ACA was presented as a bill before the House and Senate. It was properly debated and passed in both chambers and became law. It is a law that was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Republicans and conservative talk show hosts have misrepresented and misinformed the public about the ACA.

The House of Representatives have voted over 40 times to repeal this law and it is still the law.

A presidential election was held and the opponent to the president vowed to repeal the ACA and he lost.

The Republican side of the House of Representatives has decided to take the CR hostage and do great harm to the American people by shutting down the government simply to satisfy the self-interest of a minority group in the House.

Addressing the opinion that Obamacare be significantly changed, I agree there are many things that can be done to make the ACA better for the American people and not just a disgruntled minority. To do this you put the recommended change(s) in a bill and follow procedure to present it to Congress for debate.

Rep. Bucshon also believes that since the employer mandate was delayed that the individual mandate should be delayed. Delaying the employer mandate to fix glitches is a break for those businesses. To delay the individual mandate is just another attempt to deny affordable health care to millions of people who have none.

I believe Rep. Bucshon has failed to represent all of his constituents in the district by not standing firm for a vote on a clean CR  just to serve his own self-interest and a disgruntled minority.

Is that Clooney now in charge?

It cannot yet be determined whether the Iranians have gone completely mad or if the radical departure from their staid past was a shrewd, calculated and studly plot on their part, but apparently they have elected as their new president the internationally renowned Lothario, George Clooney. (Next chance you get, take a close look at the photographic evidence.)  So much for the celebrity patriot’s loyalty clause, eh?

Luckily, we still have in our own stables the courtly Misters Clinton, Beatty, Bieber, Timberlake and Gyllenhaal, as well as the ghost of Chaplin and the shadow of a recurrent Wiener.

It’s party time on the Arabian Peninsula. May God bless America.
