Blueberry Fest offers its thanks
On behalf of Terre Foods Cooperative market ownership, operational groups and Board of Directors, I want to write to thank everyone who helped make the 2013 Blueberry Festival a success. While Terre Foods Cooperative Market presented the Blueberry Festival, it has become a community-wide event.
Our goal was to reach the 600-owner threshold with 34 new members; we actually had 44, for a total of 610! While we will need more members for the store to be sustainable, this will allow us to start looking for a suitable store location, finalize our finances and start planning the store itself. In addition, this year we raised over $2,300 toward our operational fund.
Everyone who helped make this year’s event a success deserves recognition. While there are too many people and organizations to thank individually, we would like to directly thank a few: Pastor Davis and everyone at Central Presbyterian for allowing us the use of their facilities. Without your support, this event would not have been possible. The Tribune-Star for all of the coverage leading up to the event. All of the Terre Foods owners who volunteered their time to make the event a success.
And finally, we would like to directly thank Holly Hudson, our tireless event coordinator. Truly, without her this event would not have been possible.

County pool plan exceeds the need
The county needs to come clean on a couple of details regarding its proposal for an aquatic center. First of all, the county needs to tell the public the cost of its aquatic center, and, secondly, it needs to to explain clearly how it is going to pay for this.
It is my understanding that “economic development project money” is equivalent to county tax money called EDIT (economic development income tax) or more clearly stated, the county taxpayer. Why, now that the school corporation has something concrete in place, carefully thought out, did the county come out with an 11th hour grandiose plan that is well beyond what we need as a community? I thank Danny Tanoos, Jeff Thompson and all the others who put together a well thought out presentation on July 22. The county could learn a lesson from them when it comes to planning.
