RONN MOTT: China

The recent blustering by North Korea and their weaponry, which now includes ICBMs, has pulled into full attention America’s involvement with China.

We don’t know whether North Korea is for real or if they are just trying to attract attention to themselves, even if it means blowing up all of North Korea. So we have turned to China to say, “Help!”

China is having its own problems with North Korea. Many who can have fled across the Yalu River hoping to get away from the crazy regime. It certainly is no secret they are starving thousands of their own people every day. Since China is owed by us, the USA, something in the area of $1.2 trillion, it’s unlikely they will go to war and destroy the place that owes them so much money. Yet, every rocket the so-called People’s Army of North Korea has can reach nearly every major target in China.

It is rather simple. China doesn’t want any trouble with us because someday they would like their money back. On the other hand, they don’t want American forces building up in this area so close to China without the Chinese having some control. It’s a bit of a mess. And, like everybody who is interviewed on television said, the real danger is someone making a mistake and tripping this entire hot air into an actual nuclear war.

It looks as if the Chinese are damned whether they do or they don’t intervene on our behalf because of South Korea’s growing economy. And Japan’s good economy doesn’t want any kind of a war, especially one where the rockets could fall on them.

The leadership of North Korea is unknown. They have this 29-year-old son of … and no one knows if he is in charge or is a puppet being controlled by the military of North Korea.

China’s influence is more economic than military. Even though the Chinese have built a new aircraft carrier, more ships for their navy, have a very large air force and an even larger army, they also have an economic mission in every country in Africa. And now they have an hour a day news effort about Africa produced and spoken by Africans to be seen by the entire world.

As Grandpa said, “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” Grandpa didn’t know any Chinese but they certainly have applied this old saying very well. I’m not sure I know the answer to any of these problems, but it would do you well to be aware of them.
