Define marriage and get it right

It seems that every time one listens to the news there is something about same- sex marriage. I for one am tired of hearing about it because there is no such thing. This has nothing to do with equality.

Since we have to be politically correct and gender correct and so on and so forth, let’s be correct about what marriage really is. In the Bible, God’s holy word, in Matthew 19:4, says God made male and female. For this reason a man (male) will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife (female), and they will become one flesh. In Genesis, when God created the world and all that is in it he made man. He said it is not good for man to be alone, so he made a helper for him. God took a rib from the man (male) and made a woman (female). Genesis 2:24 says a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they shall be one flesh. The dictionary says marriage is the union of husband (male) and wife (female).

Are we smarter than God to redefine the meaning of marriage? Absolutely not. We are taking God out of more and more of our lives. Many communities cannot display a manger scene at Christmas time. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus so why shouldn’t we sing Christmas carols? Again, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, so why shouldn’t we sing about him? If some people don’t believe in God, they should not be permitted to keep those of us who do believe from celebrating Christmas. We have rights, too.

It is almost like celebrating President’s Day or Martin Luther King Day without ever mentioning their names or telling about what they did.

There were a couple of men on the news recently who said that people need to be educated as to what marriage is. Perhaps they are the ones who need to be educated.

There was an article in the paper recently where a man said, and I quote “We’re here and we’re queer.” The dictionary says the meaning of queer is strange; odd; strange or odd from a conventional point of view; peculiar. This is not the meaning of a marriage. Remember, marriage is a man and a woman.

God instituted the bond of marriage, so who are we to change it? Just because some people want to change the meaning of marriage does not make it correct. If we are going to be politically correct and everything else correct, let’s remember the true meaning of marriage — a man (male) and a woman (female).

Perhaps we don’t like the traffic laws. Are we going to change them to suit us? It is the same principle. This country would be in chaos if we permitted people to change every law that they don’t like.

I would like to see us once and for all get the meaning of marriage correct — a man (male) and a woman (female). This is not my definition but God’s.
