Paul J. Pauline

Paul J. Pauline, 90, of Louisville, Ky., passed away peacefully on Nov. 11, 2009, while surrounded by his family. Paul was a native of Terre Haute. He was retired from St. Joe Corrugated Container Company, where he served as general manager for 15 years. His entire career was spent working in the corrugated container industry.

Paul was a graduate of Purdue University, for which he played basketball for four years, and Garfield High School, where he was a star basketball and football player. He also played professional basketball for one season. He was an avid golfer. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific and the Atlantic. Paul married the former Mary Ruth Hurt on March 6, 1943, in Terre Haute and was married for 66 years. During their lives together, Paul and Mary Ruth lived in Miami; Staten Island, N.Y.; Terre Haute; Webster Groves, Mo.; and Louisville.

Paul and Mary Ruth have two children, Jan Pauline Scholtz and Jon Richard Pauline, both of Louisville. He was a member of the John Purdue Club and St. Matthews Episcopal Church and a former member of Audubon Country Club and Wildwood Country Club.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Pauline; his children, Jan Pauline Scholtz and Jon Richard Pauline; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Adam Pauline; five grandchildren, Anne Heim (Neal), David Scholtz (Ana), Scott Scholtz (Andrea), Heather Pauline, and Christopher Pauline (Sarah Stokes); six great-grandchildren, Jack and Paul Heim, Ella, Benjamin, Will and Owen Scholtz; two nephews, John Chadwick (Tina), of Rockford, Ill., and Steve Chadwick (Carmen), of Dallas; a great-nephew, James Chadwick, and three great-nieces, Katy, Morgan and Maddie Chadwick.
