Merle Dale Crafton, 98, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. He was born July 14, 1914, in Center Point, to Terrie and Vinnie Crafton.
Merle retired from the Penn-Central Railroad, and enjoyed farming. He served his country in the United States Army in the Signal Corps during World War II. Merle was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 and a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Stoelting Crafton; brothers, Glen, Warren, Lloyd, and Lewis; and sisters, Amy, Lela, Ann, Joan, Carol, and Marie.
Survivors Include his son, Thomas Crafton of Center Point; daughter, Patricia (Michael) Wilkinson of Center Point; brother, Terrie “Joe” Crafton of Center Point; sister, Juanita (William) of West, Terre Haute; grandson, Eric Wilkinson of Bowling Green, Ind.; and great-grandson, Dillenger Wilkinson of Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil, with burial to follow at Brown Cemetery in Center Point. Services will be officiated by Myron James. The family will accept friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
