Charlotte A. Lucas, 85, passed peacefully on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Charlotte was born in Brazil, on Aug. 27, 1927. She was the younger of two children born to Howard and Helen (Conner) Lucas. Her older brother, Bill “Billy” Lucas preceded her in death.
Prior to her teens, Charlotte’s family moved to Indianapolis, where her father found an employment opportunity during the late 1930s. Charlotte graduated high school in Indianapolis and began working as a secretary for a few years prior to beginning a long tenure as an executive secretary at RCA in Indianapolis. Charlotte enjoyed telling stories about her “bosses” and had the opportunity to personally meet many recording artists at RCA events, including Tony Bennett. She retired from RCA in 1990 and returned to make Brazil her home again a few years later.
Charlotte was very fond and supportive of animals. She always had a pet dog and cared for them with great affection. She was a volunteer at Clay County Humane Shelter. Charlotte also enjoyed working in the gift shop of Clay County Hospital during her retirement years. She enjoyed visiting with fellow RCA retirees at special luncheons. Her wonderful smile and affinity for helping everyone brightened days for many people. The Lawson family always looked forward to sharing Holidays with Charlotte.
Charlotte is survived by many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil. Funeral services will follow with Mike Lawson officiating.
