Everett ‘Roy’ Lynch

TERRE HAUTE — Everett “Roy” Lynch, 72, of Seelyville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1941, in Prairieton, to Everett E. Lynch and Marguerite Myles. He married Ethel Ilean Sagraves on Oct. 21, 1961, and together they raised three children.

Roy served in the United States Marine Corps as an expert shooter for the rifle team. During his service on the rifle team, Roy earned a bronze medal and several Governor’s Cups. He was an instructor on the Marine Corps Rifle Range. Roy’s talent for shooting led him to become a rifle instructor at the YMCA. He also coached Little League for North Terre Haute and helped two good friends with their farms. Roy spent 291⁄2 years employed with PSI and retired from there as a control room supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion in Riley.

Roy was a collector and enjoyed going to auctions. He liked to share his auction finds with his family. He was an avid sports fan. Most of the time, Roy could be found tending to his garden. Gardening was his favorite hobby. He took great pride in his amazing garden and the grandchildren who tended it with him.

Roy was a hard worker and good provider. He always put his family first and passed those traits on to his children. He cherished the time he spent with his family.  Roy was a man that would give the shirt off of his back for anyone and never knew a stranger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the love of Ethel’s life and a hero to his children and grandchildren. He will be truly missed.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ethel; children, Everett Eric Lynch, Emmett Roy Lynch and wife Elizabeth, and Erin Elizabeth Duzan and husband Darin, all of Seelyville; grandchildren, Brooke Ann Lynch, Ethan Roy Lynch, Emma Rae Lynch, Dallas Eli Duzan, and Delaney Elise Duzan, all of Seelyville; sisters, Janet Cox and husband Sam of Davenport, Iowa, and Carol Henderson and husband Keith of Terre Haute; brother, Carl Steven Lynch and wife Karen of Brazil; sisters-in-law, Lynn Wiram of Birmingham, Ala., and Beth Sagraves of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Walker; brothers, Charles Lynch and Ronald Lynch; in-laws, Leonard and Elizabeth Sagraves; and brothers-in-law, Zan Sagraves and Larry Sagraves.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial with military rites performed by the American Legion will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at:
