Donald L. Williams

Donald L. Williams 81 of Lewis, went home to be with The Lord at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. He went peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Terre Haute. He was raised by his grandparents, James and Grace Williams (Mom and Dad) in Lewis, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from Blackhawk School in 1950. He served his country for two years in the Korean War. He worked for Hulman & Company of Terre Haute for 10 years.  He also drove a school bus for Vigo County for 15 years, but his real love was for farming. He worked the farm for over 50 years. He also was an avid ball player.  Playing from the time he was 12 to 65, earning him the title of the Oldest Player. He married Judy on Sept. 16, 1988, and was married for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; two daughters, Marcia Ugoletti and husband Dennis of Lewis, and Terri Kay Bercegeay and husband Travis of Pierre Part, La.  Don also has a stepson, Ricky Burchett and wife Patty of Martinsville, Ind.; stepdaughter, Kathy Burchett of Clinton; and a special stepson, Kenny Orebaugh and wife Karen of Paragon. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Donny Ugoletti (Tanya), Josh Ugoletti (Mandy), Joe Streacker (Samantha) and Traci Streacker (Donnie); two stepgrandchildren, Steven Cooper and Alan Michael Cooper; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church. Don loved all the people in the church, and he thought of the church as his family.

The visitation will be at Union Baptist Church on Harlan Road, Terre Haute, on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. with funeral services in the church on Tuesday Nov. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rod Maris officiating. Military honors will be provided by Lawton-Byrum Post 972 VFW. Burial will be at Taylor Cemetery with no graveside services. Arrangements are by DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive.
