MARTINSVILLE, Ill. —
Leonard G. Richardson, 82, of West Terre Haute, Ind., and formerly of Martinsville, Ill., passed away at 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute. He was born May 26, 1930, in Oilfield, Ill., the son of Golden Richardson and Leola Ulrey Richardson. On Dec. 22, 1946, he married Mary Epperson in Westfield, Ill.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Richardson of West Terre Haute; son, Gerry Richardson of Kennesaw, Ga.; daughter, Shelley Duhigg and husband Richard of Bardstown, Ky.; grandchildren, Stacy Zolp, Stephanie Daley, and Rebecca Duhigg; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rex Allen Richardson; and brother, Dean Richardson.
Mr. Richardson was a packaging engineer for over 33 years for National Lock Company in Rockford, Ill. He was a volunteer for Kenrock Community Center, in Rockford, where he was the head of the Recreation Council for seven years. He enjoyed gardening, round dancing, and square dancing, which he also shared at the local nursing homes. He was a member of High Hasher Dance Club in Rockford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST today, Dec. 23, 2012, at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., in Martinsville, with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, in Martinsville. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service today at the funeral home.
