Arista M. Preston

TERRE HAUTE — Arista M. Preston “Rist”, 27, of Terre Haute, left us unexpectedly on Sunday, June 23, 2013. She was preceded in death by her adopted grandmother, Margaret Preston of Ohio.

She is survived by her first adopted father, Jim Preston of Ohio; her Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Nicholas of Ohio; her life partner, Regina Olsen of Terre Haute; stepchildren, Javon DeSue, Nathan DeSue and Aaliyah Ellington, all of Terre Haute; father, Clifford McDaniel of Terre Haute; close family friend, Jim Flesher of Terre Haute; and best friends, Terry Barth and Matilda Ellington of Terre Haute.

Arista was a caring, compassionate and wonderful person and loved and cared for everyone. She was always ready to help anyone in need and did all in her power to make things happen. She loved her friends and family and loved all animals, especially hamsters. Arista was inspired with music, writing and reading. She enjoyed psychology books, medical books and wanted to be a therapist someday. Arista played the guitar, piano, keyboard and loved to sing.

On the day that she had left us to go to a better place her horoscope really helped us understand and accept her leaving us so suddenly. It says: Change your shape. Repurpose yourself for a new mission. You’re done with being a leaf-crawler, and are ready to start flying. So sprout your wings and explode from your cocoon. How spectacular is that? We will love and miss her.

Cremation was previously requested. Visitation for family and friends will be July 21, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the family home in Terre Haute.
