Madolyn Elizabeth (Bennett) Kannmacher


---- — MARTINSVILLE, Ill. — Madolyn Elizabeth (Bennett) Kannmacher, 95, of Martinsville, passed away at 9:13 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, Ind. She was born June 18, 1918, in Martinsville, the daughter of Ernie Olin Bennett and Jesse Marie Husted Bennett. On March 6, 1942, she married Deon English Kannmacher, in St. Charles, Mo. He passed away on July 13, 1996.

Survivors include her sons, Gale Kannmacher and wife Barbara, and Gene Kannmacher and wife Cindy, all of Martinsville; brother, Carroll Bennett and wife Ruth of Marshall; sisters-in-law, Wanda Bosler and Joan Bennet, both of Martinsville; grandchildren, Mark (Sherri) Kannmacher, and Sarah (Jay) Wilhoit, all of Martinsville, Jason (Michelle) Kannmacher of Holiday Shores, and Chris Kannmacher of Martinsville; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Liz, Lyla, Molly, Hunter and Natalie Kannmacher, and Madolyn and Lane Wilhoit; and many other family members and loved ones. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harlan, Harold and Lowell Bennett.   

Mrs. Kannmacher was a member and secretary for many years of the Island Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm for many years. Madolyn and Deon were very active in the “Silver Streaks.” She enjoyed playing the piano; was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making candy. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Martinsville Blue Streaks fan. She enjoyed all the activities her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey and Brother Keith Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the Martinsville Agricultural Fair Association, P.O.
