Charles Victor ‘Chuck’ Davidson Sr.

MARTINSVILLE, Ill. — Charles Victor “Chuck” Davidson Sr., 89, of Martinsville, passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, Ill. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Casey, the son of James Edward Davidson and Clara Lewella Dill Davidson. On Feb. 11, 1953, he married Helen June Napier in Robinson, Ill.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, June Davidson, of Martinsville; son, Dan Napier, and wife Suzie, of Martinsville; son, Chuck Davidson Jr., and wife Barbara, of Robinson; daughter, Brenda Roberts, of Casey; daughter, Charlotte Noffke, and husband Dennis, of Stewardson, Ill.; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, James and Clara Davidson; brothers, O. W. (Pete) Davidson, James E. Davidson and Herman (Jake) Davidson; and sisters, Elizabeth Cook and Irene Reese.

Chuck was a self-employed mechanic in Martinsville for over 60 years. He had previously worked for the railroad. He was a U.S. Marine Corps WWII veteran and a member of the Martinsville American Legion, the Casey VFW and the Disabled American Veterans Association, and was an ASA Hall of Fame member. Chuck attended the First Baptist Church in Martinsville.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Greenwell Funeral Home, with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville, with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Greenwell Funeral Home at 30 N. Washington St. in Martinsville.

Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
