TERRE HAUTE —
Wanda Lee May, 68, of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:09 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was the owner of the Gingerbread House Arts and Crafts in Terre Haute. She and her husband also were the previous owners of Wabash Valley Hydraulics in Terre Haute. She was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Clinton, to Dallas V. Sheese and Betty Shannon Scott Sheese. Her husband, Gerrith E. “Seymour” May, whom she married on Oct. 25, 1969, preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2008.
Survivors include her children, Dallas May and his wife Catherine of Terre Haute, Traci Shaffer and her husband Brad of Waldron, Dawn Thomas and her husband Steve of Mooresville, and Bobbie Jo Wright of Terre Haute; a stepson, Kevin May and his wife Tricia of Terre Haute; her stepmother, Dorothy Franklin; 11 grandchildren, Amanda May, Tracy Crowley, Ashley Shaffer, Brock Shaffer, Kenneth Brock, Heather Brock, Michael Musgrove II, Justin Wright, Brooke May, Natalie May, and Derrick May; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her three cats, Casey, Chloe, and Handsome; and two dogs, Bridget and Jasmine. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Robert Franklin; a grandchild; a sister, Betty Jo Franklin; and a brother, Thomas Sheese.
She attended the Grace Community Church in Terre Haute, and she was a longtime member of Wabash Valley Corvette Club. She enjoyed playing music of which she played the accordion, organ, and piano. She had given music lessons at the Conservatory Of Music in previous years and she loved her animals dearly.
Funeral services for Wanda will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with Pastor Mike Pringle officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to services Wednesday.
