TERRE HAUTE —
Terry E. “Turk” Schell, 65, of Terre Haute, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in the Waters of Greencastle Healthcare Center, in Greencastle. He had been employed as a tool and die maker for DeDe Tool and Die, in Terre Haute, for more than 30 years. He was born May 2, 1948, in Terre Haute, to Edmond Schell and Rosie Mae Kent Schell.
Survivors include his children, Terry E. “Chubby” Schell Jr. and wife Heather of Clinton, Jeannie Marie Valentic and husband Robbie of Riley, Jason Schell of Terre Haute, and Brian Schell of Kokomo; a brother, Alfred Wayne Schell and wife Linda of Tampa, Fla.; five sisters, Loretta Vaughn and husband Ted, and Kimberly Schell-Pitts and husband Dean, all of Terre Haute, Wanda McCammon and husband Billy of Prairie Creek, Tamra Taylor and husband Chuck of Rosedale, and Cindy Cannon and her fiancé Jimmy of Landrum, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Hunter Schell, Cherish Schell, Skylar Schell, Dustie Wallace, Jayson Wallace, Alecia Schlup, Colson Schell, and Collier Schell; a great-grandson Javion Walls; and a special aunt, Gladys Phillips of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a brother, Lawrence A. “Bud” Schell; and a stepsister, Alice Ann Sheets.
Terry was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during which he was a recipient of a Bronze Star with combat V and a Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Honey Creek High School class of 1966. He enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services for Terry will be 1 p.m. today in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with graveside military rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Great Lakes Caring (Hospice) for the care they gave to Terry.
