Nancy Jane Witt Monts

WEST TERRE HAUTE — Nancy Jane Witt Monts, 93, of West Terre Haute, died at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in West Terre Haute, to George J. Witt and Marie Walker Witt. She retired as a secretary from the Vigo County School Corporation. Nancy graduated from Valley High School and attended Indiana State University. She was a faithful member of Bethany United Church of Christ for 83 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Paul L. Monts; a son, Michael E. Monts; and a sister, Barbara Guy. Survivors include a son, Paul Witt Monts and wife Lily Shih; a daughter, Cynthia Monts Smith; a daughter-in-law, Vonda J. Monts; six grandchildren, Jennifer Smith Morse, Neilly Smith, Benjamin Monts, Gabriel Monts, Annalee Monts and Serena Monts; two great-grandchildren, Dominick Smith and Amani Brown; a sister, Phyllis Hunter and husband George; and many nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors.

There is no visitation. Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Stephen Moore at Bethany United Church of Christ in West Terre Haute. Fellowship and a meal will immediately follow at Bethany. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Bethany United Church of Christ.
