Jerry N. Greenlee

TERRE HAUTE — Jerry N. Greenlee, 80, of Terre Haute, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 21, 1933, the youngest of 13 children born to Robert and Ethel (Lounsbury) Greenlee. He graduated from Valley High School in 1951 and was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of the Greenlee Body Shop of the West Terre Haute area for many years. He was well known for his skill and craftsmanship.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Kay; three daughters, Kelley Ross and husband Jim of West Terre Haute, Kathy Maher and husband Steve, and Susan Greenlee, all of Terre Haute; one son, David Greenlee and wife Kelly of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Christine Rossetti (Paul), Nickelle Coats (Greg), Jackie Ellinger (Justin), Rick Cottrell (Casey), and Kayla Dean (Albert), Terry Wilkinson (Tish), and Kirk Fulk; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Lamb of Waco, Texas; two special brothers-in-law, Steve Knight of Indianapolis, and Larry Knight of Vermillion, Ill. He was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline (Polly) Vermillion, Margaret (Peg) Williams, Hattie Belle Schuman, Wanda Barton, and Frances (age 2); and brothers, Harmon, Clarence, Oren, Bill, Leo (age 2), and Leroy (infant).

Jerry will be remembered for his quiet nature and love for his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and one of his greatest joys was teaching his children the love of the woods and nature.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Thursday for family and friends in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, with a service at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Thursday The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 Eighth Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47804; or with envelopes available in the funeral home.
