Sister Mary Margaret Quinn

TERRE HAUTE — Sister Mary Margaret Quinn, 78, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, died at 9:38 p.m. on Nov. 29, 2013, in Mother Theodore Hall, St. Mary-of-the-Woods. She was born on May 27, 1935, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Charles and Agnes Donahue Quinn.

Sister Mary Margaret entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Jan. 6, 1953, and was given the name Sister Charles Agnes. She professed Final Vows on Aug. 15, 1960. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and master’s degree from Butler University, both in music. In her 60 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered as a music teacher for 17 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois and Texas. In 1972, she moved from teaching to parish work, serving as pastoral associate at Holy Angels Parish in Indianapolis for 34 years. She gave her all to the parishioners and to all those who lived in the area, especially to those in need.

In 2007, she returned to the motherhouse, where she volunteered at Woods Day Care/Pre-school. Beginning in 2012 she committed herself totally to the ministry of prayer.

Sister Mary Margaret is survived by a brother, Michael J. Quinn of Fishers, Ind.

The wake will be on Friday, Dec. 6, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with the wake service at 4:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel R. Hopcus presiding. Because Sister donated her body to science, her burial in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence will be at a later date. DeBaun Funeral Home—Wabash Avenue Chapel assisted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Providence, 1 Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876.
