Charles W. Luft, 69, of Clinton, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2013, in Union Hospital Clinton. He was born in Clinton on Oct. 23, 1944, to Charles F. Luft and Lois Henry Luft. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam era. He had worked in maintenance electrical at Jadcore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Luft; and a son-in-law, Rockie Pepelea.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Cottrell Luft of Clinton; his son, Tom, and Shelley Luft of Clinton; two daughters, Kim Pepelea of Clinton, and Tammy and Jim Johns of Clinton; two brothers, Mick Luft, and Steve and Denise Luft; two sisters, Charlene and Mike Spencer, and Darla and Ed Kesler; grandchildren Amber and Brandie Johns, and Nathan and Rachel Luft; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey; and also several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Frist Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, with Bob Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 140 baseball team. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and the VFW.
