General Lee Taylor Jr. 68, a Terre Haute native, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, N.C., surrounded by his family. He was a 1964 graduate of Wiley High School. He was employed at Stran-Steel in Terre Haute and IBM in Greencastle, later transferring to IBM in Greensboro, NC. He retired from Gilbarco-Veede-Root in Greensboro.
He also served as past master of Prince Hall Lodge 16, Terre Haute. General was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time sharing a story with family and friends. He was married to Creola M. (Edinburgh) Taylor for 44 years.
Survivors include his spouse, Creola; son, Lee D. Taylor; daughters, Aisha and Bethany Taylor; siblings, LeRoy (Annetta), Jack S. (Evangeline), Richard E. Taylor, Carrie M. (Taylor) Tyler, Mary E. (Herschel) Tyler; uncle, Richard O. (Margaret) Taylor; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, General Lee and Elsie B. (Holland) Taylor; and a sister, Orvillia Earlene Howard. He will be forever cherished, missed and loved by all that knew him.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Woodard Funeral Home, 3200 N. Oldhenry Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27405.
