TERRE HAUTE —
Betty J. Iunghuhn, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Springhill Village. She was born on April 19, 1925, in Jasonville, to Charles and Chloe (Simpson) Klein. She married Robert Iunghuhn on June 20, 1945. In her early years, Betty worked as a cook for Oakley’s Drug Store. She then went on to become a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and growing tomatoes. Betty loved watching the hummingbirds that visited her garden every summer. Throughout the years, Betty doted on her three little dogs, Robbie, Charlie and Buddy. Most of all, Betty cherished her family and the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her warm smile and the love that shined from her gentle spirit. Despite her small stature, Betty was the strength that carried her family. Betty is forever a hero in the eyes of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her grandchildren, Tim Thomas (Kelli) of Terre Haute; Terri Leslie (Kevin Boyd) of Terre Haute and Freedom, Ind.; and Lori Ellingsworth of Bridgeport, Ill.; and great-grandchildren Lucas and Jacob Reynolds; John Leslie (Rachel Hovey); Jessica Leslie (Jimmy Martin); Eric Harris (Ashley Harris); and Emilee, Elizabeth and Anne-Marie Ellingsworth.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a daughter, Roberta Thomas; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
