Eleanor Hawkins, of Prairieton, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2013. She was born July 1, 1926, to Ethel and Edley Luke Frye.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Hawkins; her parents; and siblings.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Melony Baker, Mark Hawkins, and Robin and Chris Bauer; an adopted daughter, Ruth Pickens; stepdaughter, Pam Pepelow; and her very best friend, her daughter Tracey. She also is survived by her grandchildren Jamie, Stu, Amy, Billie, Keith, Stephanie, Chris, and Amos; and many great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Eleanor was a member of the Prairieton Homemakers Home Economic Club since 1962 and was the treasurer for many years. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening and especially loved playing bingo with Tracey and all the wonderful friends they made over the years. Eleanor loved to make and share her homemade divinity candy with loved ones and friends each holiday season.
Eleanor's visitation will be at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, today, Sept. 13, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, she would wish for donations to the charity of your choosing.
