PARIS, Ill. — William W. “Bill” Creech, age 89, of Paris, passed away at 12:10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Paris Community Hospital. He worked as a power plant operator at Illinois Cereal Mill retiring on Jan. 1, 1987. Bill was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Bill was born July 8, 1924, in Paris, the son of the late George B. Creech and Clara June (Staley) Creech. He married Bernadine Thompson in 1946 in Paris, and she preceded him in death June 10, 1996. He later married Penny Allen Creech Nov. 18, 2000, and she survives.
Bill also is survived his sons, Robert Allen (Bob) Creech and wife Bonita of Paris, and George Richard (Dick) Creech and wife Norma of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Tamara Houston and husband Scott of Ashville, N.C., Caprice Lynn Stone and husband Matt of Paris, Bridgett Youngblood and husband Jeff of Durant of Oklahoma, and Crystal Drake and husband Adam of Oklahoma City; his nine great-grandchildren; his stepchildren, Curtis M. Akens and wife Kathy of Rantoul, Penny L. Carter and husband Alan of Lisle, and Nancy M. Flinn and husband Tom of Columbus, Ohio; and his 15 stepgrandchildren; and his 13 nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by his two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, 303 E. Wood St., in Paris, with Brother Kurt Speece officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.
